To work as a volunteer
Would you like to make some of your time and expertise available to Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (Vets Without Borders)? We really appreciate it! Volunteers are enormously important for an organisation such as ours. We use volunteers for our operations in developed countries and to a lesser extent for our projects in the developing world.
Our aim is to inform the public at large in Belgium about the situation in developing countries and to do that, we need a strong group of supporters. So voluntary work on behalf of Vétérinaires Sans Frontières begins with informing all of your friends, family, local area government or association about our organisation. Collecting funds is also an important part of what we do - and we could always do with extra pairs of hands and powers of persuasion for that! There is also a large number of administrative tasks waiting at head office for the person with the right skills.
There are not many projects in the developing world for which we require volunteers, though. In fact we can only send out a maximum of two students per year. This is because these projects are mainly about training local livestock owners. So to gain practical experience as a vet, we would rather refer you to other organisations. You will find links for this on the following pages. There you will also find out how you can work as a volunteer for Vétérinaires Sans Frontières within your own sphere of expertise. So, if you have a hatful of good ideas to tell Vétérinaires Sans Frontières about, or have an irresistible suggestion or time available on a regular basis, please dont hesitate to tell us!
