Our objective is a sustainable and ecological development of farming and animal husbandry in Africa
As a donor or supporter of Vétérinaires Sans Frontières, of course you want to know how we operate. The following pages will give you a fascinating overview of our current projects. We believe that is very important that you know what goes on in the field in practical terms. VSF operates in Africa and has projects running in Sudan, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, the Comoros, Burkina Faso and Rwanda. The trinity of "the land, the animals and the people" is central to the way VSF operates. This means that we and our partners in developing countries are fighting against the injustice of poverty, using appropriate programmes and methods that provide for the sustainable and ecological development of farming and animal husbandry.
There’s a cooperation with the local people
Our projects are always put in place using the same guidelines and strategies. The most important of these is undoubtedly the close cooperation we foster with the local people, who are directly or indirectly dependent on animal husbandry. We provide technical support and training and in time, the local people take over the projects. This cooperation is always the result of a specific request from the people. Groups of women receive extra attention and are closely involved in training and management, because women often play a crucial role in providing food for the family.
