The nomadic pastoralists and agro-pastoralists in Moroto District of Uganda are food insecure and have allow development index of 0,24 with more than 70 % of the population living with less than a dollar per day. (UNDP Human development report 2005). The communities rely on livestock as their main livelihood source while a few people who have settle near Mt Moroto do subsistence cereals crop farming growing mainly sorghum in small farms. The main challenges faced by agro-pastoralists are poor crops yields while at times the occasional good harvests spoil due to poor knowledge on post harvest management and storage technology.
