In Africa, millions of people survive by their livestock. Yet veterinary care is often insufficiently available. When farmers lose their herds to disease, drought or conflict, they lose everything: their pride, their culture, their savings and their livelihood. By helping to care for livestock and improve production, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium supports local populations in their struggle against hunger and poverty.

Will

With a will, you can continue to support us, even when you're no longer amongst us. You will continue to participate in the creation of a fair world, free from hunger and poverty, a world that will allow future generations to live with dignity and in harmony with their animals and nature.

You can donate, through your will, the entirety or a part of your assets to Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium.

  • If you don't have an inheritor, you can establish Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium as a beneficiary in your will; if you don't have a will, the State will inherit all of your assets.
  • If you have inheritors, you can leave a part of your inheritance to Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium via a dual legacy. In this case, the organization pays for all inheritance tax, inclusively the other inherits' tax.

Inheritance tax

As the organization is authorized to issue tax certificates, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium benefits from inheritance tax at a reduced rate: 8.8 % in Flanders, 12.5 % in Brussels and 7 % in Wallonia. This gives you the certainty that the large majority of your inheritance - regardless of the amount of inheritance - will go directly to the good cause that you have chosen.

Dual legacy

In the case of a dual legacy, you can donate a part of your inheritance to Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium and another part to your inheritors (relatives and friends). This formula allows for substantial tax savings, in case your inheritors have to pay a huge amount of inheritance taxes. Contrary to ordinary legacies, the organisation pays the entirety of the inheritance tax.

The rate of the inheritance tax on the part of the inheritor depends on the amount of the inheritance and the relationship between the deceased and his/her inheritor. The higher the amount of inheritance, the higher the tax rate will be. Additionally, the direct inheritors, like immediate family, pay lower inheritance tax than extended family members or inheritors unrelated to the deceased. A nephew, a niece or a friend will have to give up a large part of the inheritance to tax payment, except if you donate a part of your inheritance to Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium, who will pay the distant inheritor's inheritance tax.
